“At any rate I learned that this is how health insurance agencies are evaluating your fitness. So, according to my BMI I am “Overweight”. REALLY?!?!?!
At any rate… It is what it is and I will not pay a premium for health insurance because they classify me as overweight. Therefore, I am going to lose 10 lbs. Who wants to do it with me?
One of the best ways to lose weight is it make your goal public and what better way than Facebook.
So, join me in losing 10 lbs by letting everyone know your current weight and we will have check-ins on FB throughout the process. There is no need to be embarrassed. Weight is just a number that does not factor in how much muscle and fat a person has.
I’ll go first…
Today I weigh 168 lbs.”    :)

This is Andrew, from ScottsdalePersonalTrainer.org, I am starting at 236.5 pounds. I will get down to 226.5 in 5 weeks.

You’re absolutely correct. It’s hard to believe you can be denied health insurance because you are 10 pounds heavier than the underwriting charts allow but it is absolutely fact.
I’ve been selling individual and group health insurance plans for 20 years. It’s especially difficult for those looking for individual coverage because as of right now, carriers are allowed to decline you for a variety of reasons.
The first time I heard this from a client I was shocked, she wasn’t heavy, not even chubby but she was not within the height and weight range on the insurance carriers’ chart. Luckily we found another company who was more liberal with their charts but ideally losing the weight would have been the best thing for her own personal health.
I think this is a wonderful & innovative way for people to get motivated and “dive” into fitness. Having support is crucial.
You go Audrey! You’ll get there! Great idea Andrew!
